The Suggestions window displays the phrases associated with the typed abbreviation.

When an abbreviation is recognized, PhraseExpander displays the Suggestions window from which you can select the phrase to execute. If you continue typing, the Suggestions window will update its contents based on what you have typed, or will disappear if no abbreviation is associated with the typed text.

1.Accelerator key: the accelerator key allows to quickly select the phrase by typing the associated number.

2.Abbreviation: the abbreviation associated with the phrase. A part of the abbreviation is indicated in orange: this is the part that has already been typed (op in the example). You can refine the selection by typing any of the characters shown in black. Learn more about partial matching of abbreviations using SmartComplete.

3.Description: displays a description of the phrase: this can be the phrase itself or a specific text that was entered in the Description field when defining the phrase. If the phrase contains formatting, the description is displayed in blue.

4.Confirm: the confirm key triggers the execution of the phrase. It's displayed beside the selected phrase.

 

To close the Suggestions window: click on the X button or press the ESC key. The Suggestions window will automatically close if the typed text doesn't match any abbreviation.

Select the phrase

The Suggestions window can display one or more suggestions according to the abbreviation or shortcut typed.

You can select the phrase you desire in any of the following ways:

1.use the arrow UP and DOWN keys

2.type the number associated with the phrase (this works only if the Enable phrase fast selection option is enabled). If more phrases are associated with the abbreviation than the ones displayed on screen, typing the last number of the list will make the phrases scroll down, so that the last item becomes the first of the list.

3.click on the desired phrase with the mouse

4.type more characters to narrow the selection (works if SmartComplete is active)

 

Insert the phrase

Once you have selected the desired phrase, press the confirmation key to execute it (alternatively, you can execute the phrase by double-clicking on it).

 

Search for phrases

If you want to search for a specific phrase, you can click on the Suggestions window or press CTRL+E

When clicking on the suggestions window or pressing CTRL+E, the form is expanded and a search box is displayed.

The displayed suggestions will be narrowed down as you type. You can then select the proper phrase you want to expand, and confirm by pressing the SHIFT key (or any other confirmation key you have chosen).
