Creating phrases

You can add a new phrase in many different ways.

Once you have added a phrase, you can execute it from any application by typing the associated abbreviation.

To add a new blank phrase

1.In the Phrases tab, click on New Phrase

PhraseExpander creates a new empty phrase in the phrases list

2.Enter the desired text into the phrase details pane, and use macros to perform more advanced actions

3.Make any changes in the phrase details pane

 

To create a phrase from a selected text

1.Select the text you want to add

2.Do one of the following:

-Right-click on the Tray Icon and select New phrase from selected text

-Drag the selected text into the desired glossary or phrase list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

3.Make any changes in the phrase details pane
The new phrase is added to the selected glossary/group

 

To add a phrase for the currently active application or folder

1.Right-click on the Tray Icon and select New phrase for current application

2.Make any changes in the phrase details pane
The new phrase is added to the selected glossary/group

 

To add a phrase to launch a file or application

1.Do one of the following:

-Drag and drop the file or folder into the glossary or phrase list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

-Click on New Phrase / [Run Application / Open Folder]

2.Make any changes in the phrase details pane

The new phrase is added to the selected glossary/group

To add a phrase to open a website

3.Do one of the following:

-Drag and drop the URL from the browser into the glossary or phrase list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

-Click on New Phrase / Open Website

1.Make any changes in the phrase details pane
The new phrase is added to the selected glossary/group

 

NOTE: phrases can be quickly added by using keyboard shortcuts.
