Create your first templates

Here's how you can get started in PhraseExpander in 5 minutes by creating your own templates and autocompleting words.

Your templates can be divided into glossaries and groups for easy organization and sharing.

Create a template to insert a block of text

A template can contain a block of text (which can contain many lines) and you can insert by typing a few keystrokes.

Create a new template by clicking on New template

Type or copy and paste the text you want to insert in the Contents of the template

Type the abbreviation you want to associate with your template. You'll need to type it to trigger the template.

The abbreviation is recognized in any application.

Optionally, you can assign a description if you don't like the default one that is assigned automatically

Test your abbreviation by typing rr SHIFT

Create a template to autocomplete words

Templates can also be used to autocomplete words.

Create a new template by clicking on New template

Type or copy and paste the word you want to autocomplete in the contents

In the abbreviation field, press CTRL SHIFT D to assign the default abbreviation (or click the Assign default abbreviation blue button). The abbreviation must be equal to the word you want to autocomplete.

Test your abbreviation by starting typing it and press SHIFT to confirm

The abbreviation is recognized in any application

NOTE: You can create a template from the selected text or word by selecting the text you want to save and pressing CTRL+ SHIFT+ W.
